Marmite Chicken

I now realise that I love food that most people dislike, such as eggplant, bitter gourd, okra and ....marmite. But frankly speaking, these food win my heart because they have stronger flavours and really good to go with rice.

I follow pigpigs' recipe, without the chili flakes and sesame seeds. We love it a lot, can literally lick all the sauce. Now I left with the entire bottle of marmite looking for next recipe to use it again.

Courtesy from pigpigscorner:

700 g chicken pieces
1/3 cup water
1 tbs honey
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp Marmite

2 tbs Marmite
1 tbs honey
1 tbs light soy sauce
1 tbs Shaoxing wine
A dash white pepper powder

Mix chicken pieces and all ingredients for marinade together, leave to marinate for at least one hour or even better overnight in the fridge.
Heat up a bit of oil in a pan.
Add marinated chicken pieces, stir fry until lightly browned on all sides.
Add water, honey, dark soy sauce. Stir to mix. Leave to simmer until sauce thickened and very little sauce left.
Stir in 1 tsp or more Marmite to taste.
Season to taste.

Hey, I'm with you in this sense! I'm not a fussy eater. I love eggplant, bitter gourd, okra and Marmite/Vegemite!!! HAHA! So, Marmite chicken is definitely one of my favorite dishes of all time. Gotta make it someday, too, for sure! Not now lar ... My family is still in the midst of relocating. So, the new kitchen is rather messy. I haven't been cooking and baking for close to a month. Haiz ...

However, don't stuff petai into my mouth ... I detest the veggie though I know it's good for us. =P

I love bittergourd, and okra. Marmite - I should be ok with it since I know I ate it as a kid. Almost forgotten the taste since have not had it for a very long time.

I have never had marmite before, but have been wanting to try it. I'm a very adventurous eater myself, so maybe I'd like it!

I love marmite actually and PPC's recipe sounds yummy hehe..

I do agree that a lot of bold-flavoured foods go so well with rice :) - love bittergourd and okra too though when I was a kid, thought the sticky stuff was so weird haha

Jen: Me too, we are just weird people who like weird stuffs. LOL!
